Who We Are
University of the Commons is a collective of teachers, artists, activists, scholars, writers, and students dedicated to the idea of education for the sake of education. We invite new faculty, students, and the community to join us in forming a free university.
University of the Commons first met as an informal group in April 2011. We decided on our name in November - December 2011, and we began working on our first catalog of free classes and the Launch in Spring 2012.
University of the Commons is always free of charge.
